Are superfoods a ‘magic cure’ for great health? The short answer is no. But aren’t they really, really good for us? You bet they are.
When part of a balanced, healthy diet, superfoods ARE extra beneficial. What makes them so special? Research suggests the phytochemical and high nutrient levels in ‘superfoods’ CAN help improve overall health, support the immune system, and even regulate mood by increasing serotonin levels–when consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
So… let’s look at some SEASONAL ‘SUPERFOODS,’ shall we?
PUMPKIN
A seasonal superstar of Thanksgiving’s festivities, let’s review PUMPKINS:
- they are delicious + also offer numerous health benefits
- they’re rich in fiber, aiding in digestion
- they’re packed with potassium, promoting heart health
- they’re an excellent source of vitamin A, supporting eye health
So enjoy a few pumpkin delights – just be cognizant of added sugars.
Yes, enjoy this season’s pumpkin pie in controlled moderation–eat slowly, savor the goodness, pass on second helpings — and take it easy on the whipped topping, eh? 😆🎃
