You just can’t go wrong with summer blooms. But our personal favorite? Hands-down, it’s the Gerbera Daisy (also known as Gerber Daisy).
Dainty, brilliantly colored and hardy, we crown the Gerbera Daisy as the best beauty queen in potted arrangements, landscape beds—and it’s a ‘must’ for indoor cut floral arrangements.
Their bright, colorful, daisy-like blooms vary in size from 2 to 5 inches in diameter, and these gems can be found in varying colors from pink, orange, salmon, yellow and white. We love their brilliant petals as well as the ease and general hardiness of the plant.
As Gerbera Daisies originated in South Africa, they thrive well in hot weather, so full sun is their preferred exposure. They’ll thrive in well-drained soil, and be sure to add some compost to boost growth; this also encourages flowering.
If your summertime views do not yet include the brilliance of Gerber Daisies, give ‘em a try. We think you’ll crown ‘em queen of your summer blooms, too.
